Oh Asifa!

#AsifaDeservedBetter

Oh Asifa, forgive us for we’ve descended into our darkest hell

Which innocent girl is next, only the devil that dwells can tell

This land we love and call our own, has repeatedly let you down

Scrotal sacs lodged in our heads, erase all judgment sound

Oh Asifa, that fateful day, when you your herd did graze

How could you have missed out on that disturbing, saffron gaze?

Could it have been the notion of temple meant to genuflect?

Bore witness to the horror unfold as animals over your body bent

Oh Asifa, all of eight, too young to comprehend

Left behind a mangled mess, that this would be your end

But don’t you fret, don’t you get lonely, a friend is on her way

At 86 wounds, she’s a battered corpse, together you both can play

Oh Asifa, there’s Jyoti too, who met a similar fate

Six years ago, we set this right, now find you at heaven’s gate

The men in power call you their daughter, say they’ll hang those men

Who prey on you and feast your flesh, but let us not pretend

Our sins too deep, our skin too thick, this nary is a solution

Neuter those animals, let live & regret, so shatter their illusion

Oh Asifa, we’ve lost the plot, the path and all that’s in between

This land we love and call our own, has lost its’ glorious sheen

With half our race made of your kind, how can we look ahead!

As we stalk and leer, rape what’s near, leaving you cold and dead

Each childhood plucked, every life so sucked, our heads do hang in shame

No matter which way this story goes, we will never be the same!
